Operating on the same site on Vauxhall Bridge Road since 1759, the White Swan pub in Pimlico must certainly count as Old London. While its age is not particularly reflected in the current building’s interior, it is still a good place to bring visitors looking for what is often described as a quintessentially English pub. Very handily situated on the walking route between Tate Britain and Pimlico station, and offering the usual pub classics menu, it is a useful staging post for a day’s art appreciation. And located near to the offices of a major publisher, one need only call in any lunchtime to hear the latest publishing industry gossip.
